Discover Sango's new Expedition Camp

Sango Expedition Camp takes you back to the origins of safari. Here you stay in simple tents, with hot water for showers coming from a bucket under the blue sky. And we can promise you this much: you will never forget it.

Safari tent camp with en-suite facilities

Our expedition camp, which blends harmoniously into its surroundings on the seasonal banks of the Mzaise River, accommodates six guests in three beautiful expedition tents with en-suite facilities from 1 April to the end of October. Each expedition tent has twin beds and a small private veranda with a shaded seating area. The open-plan en-suite bathroom has a bucket shower and flush toilet. You’ll enjoy your meals in our large open-sided dining tent, then gather around the campfire under the stars.
We care about nature. That’s why we built Sango Expedition Camp on our love and deep connection to Zimbabwe. Part of our commitment to reducing our impact on the environment and wildlife is to use solar panels to power Sango’s Expedition Camp.

Solar powered safari tent camp

In 2022 we installed a solar photovoltaic system. Since then, generator time has been drastically reduced and 100% of the Expedition Camp’s total energy consumption is now supplied by green solar energy.

Feed your wanderlust

  • Walking safari
  • Tracking Rhino
  • Night drives
  • Meet the Anti Poaching unit with their dogs

Elephant and rhino counting

As part of Sango’s commitment to the conservation of African elephants and the critically endangered black rhino, the herds on Sango have been fitted with collars to help monitor and track their movements. From time to time, one of the elephant collars used in this research needs to be replaced and we invite you to be part of this extraordinary experience.

As our guests, you will get the exclusive opportunity to participate in an event that is unique and usually not accessible for tourists. Once the elephant or rhino has been located and darted, you’ll have the unique opportunity to touch the anaesthetised elephant or rhino as they change their collar.

“There is something about safari life that makes you forget all your sorrows and feel as if you had drunk half a bottle of champagne — bubbling over with heartfelt gratitude for being alive.”
